ORTEC client Deli XL hails benefits of new technology in urban distribution planning
25 October 2011
At the second AECOC (Spanish Association of Commercial Codification) Urban Goods Transportation forum in Barcelona, Deli XL, leading foodservice wholesaler and ORTEC client, hailed the benefits of new technology in the optimization of the company's urban distribution planning.
During the presentation, Coen Worst, Transport Planning Project Manager at Deli XL, described how ORTEC's advanced vehicle routing and dispatch solution is used to optimize the company's route planning and goods distribution in the Dutch cities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam: "There are numerous traffic restrictions in force within these two cities but with the new technology available these constraints are no longer an obstacle."
Coen Worst continues: "Visualization is a key aspect of the software. The display features enable the planner to immediately assess the cost and mileage implications of any potential planning changes. With ORTEC's solution, the planner can use their in-depth planning experience to create optimal routes, and this combination of automation and planner experience results in the most efficient plans, even in cities such as Amsterdam and Rotterdam."
Michael Oskam, ORTEC Partner & Alliances Director, comments: "It was really important for ORTEC to attend this event along side Deli XL because besides being a highly valued customer, Deli XL is also a perfect representation of the way in which we – together with our Spanish business partner Bitmakers – are able to serve the Spanish consumer goods and food industries.”
