ORTEC becomes participant in the Future Logistics Living LabSAP02 August 2011

ORTEC is pleased to announce its participation in the recently formed Future Logistics Living Lab. The Future Logistics Living Lab was founded by SAP*, NICTA, and Fraunhofer, and is dedicated to fast-tracking innovation in the transport and logistics sector. Based in the Australian Technology Park in Sydney, the Living Lab provides a physical platform for industry and research to work together, to investigate real-world logistics issues, and to demonstrate and test innovative technology that will provide transport and logistics solutions for the future.

ORTEC's participation in the Living Lab was instigated by Timo Klemm, ORTEC Senior Director - SAP Alliances, and Alan Thomas, joint Managing Director of ORTEC Australia & New Zealand. Commenting on this new platform, Timo Klemm states: “Our acceptance into the Living Lab network not only officially recognizes our industry expertise, but it also provides a platform for further knowledge growth. In addition, our engagement will align us more closely with SAP, broaden the ORTEC branding in Australia, and also provide us with the opportunity to interact with interesting customers and experts from other logistics areas.”

The Future Logistics Living Lab is driven by partner organizations such as ORTEC. Participating companies will help to shape the future of logistics through the collaboration and sharing of knowledge and experiences. By engaging multiple participants across logistics networks, the lab aspires to tackle industry-wide problems.  In addition, collaborative projects will provide the means for industry participants to drive the research agenda of research participants by focusing on key areas of industry need.

ORTEC was able to successfully demonstrate its credentials during the application process. Alan Thomas comments on this further: “The founding partners of the Living Lab are keen to engage valuable partners, such as ORTEC, because their involvement will drive practical, technology-based solutions that will ultimately deliver real productivity benefits. The Living Lab is an example of research institutions, industry and government working together on important challenges for the logistics industry. ORTEC is really excited to be part of this initiative and will continue to drive innovation through industry engagement.”
