ORTEC is now member of Supply Chain Councillogo01 April 2010

Recently ORTEC has become a member of the Supply Chain Council. The Supply Chain Council (SCC, www.supply-chain.org) is a global non-profit association whose methodology, diagnostic and benchmarking tools help nearly a thousand organizations make dramatic and rapid improvements in supply chain processes. SCC has established the supply chain world’s most widely accepted framework for evaluating and comparing supply chain activities and their performance. The framework—the SCOR® process reference model—lets companies quickly determine and compare the performance of supply chain and related operations within their company or against other companies.

Within Logistics Consulting at OLC we have adopted the SCOR-model as a supporting tool for Supply Chain Diagnosis. The ORTEC Supply Chain Diagnosis is a new ORTEC Service that helps companies to assess their Supply Chain performance, identify potential for improvement and define a business case for an improvement project. It can close the gap between awareness and interest in Supply Chain Optimization and the decision to do an improvement project. We will use it to help us selling consulting projects like Supply Chain Network Design with BOSS or Supply Chain Performance Optimization with D3GO.

The SCOR® process reference model and supporting tools are very helpful in diagnosing Supply Chains and their performance. It offers support for:

  • Supply Chain Definition
  • Supply Chain Prioritization
  • Supply Chain As Is performance assessment
  • Supply Chain performance benchmarking
  • Defining Supply Chain performance ambition

The SCOR-model has been developed to describe the business activities associated with all phases of satisfying a customer’s demand. The Model itself contains several sections and is organized around the five primary management processes of Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, and Return. By describing supply chains using these process building blocks, the Model can be used to describe supply chains that are very simple or very complex using a common set of definitions. As a result, disparate industries can be linked to describe the depth and breadth of virtually any supply chain. The Model has been able to successfully describe and provide a basis for supply chain improvement for global projects as well as site-specific projects.

The SCOR-model offers an extensive set of Supply Chain Metrics that are organized around 5 Performance Attributes: Reliability, Responsiveness, Agility, Cost and Asset Management. For more information go to www.supply-chain.org.
