ORTEC continues to expand
23 February 2010
Despite the global economic recession, ORTEC, the market leader in Advanced Planning Software, continued to be successful during previous year. Also in 2009 many companies, most of which are international, chose ORTEC as their new supplier of planning software. This led to an annual increase in revenues at ORTEC of almost 10%. Furthermore, in 2009 ORTEC won the Netherlands Logistics Award in addition to other accolades and several international magazines, such as Inbound Logistics and Consumer Goods Technology, paid tribute yet again to ORTEC as a market leader.
ORTEC recognizes that the global trend to efficiently allocate the right resources (be it manpower or other company resources) to often fluctuating demand is still growing. “Companies continue to streamline their operations and do this for the most part through investment in innovative solutions to optimize their business processes,” according to Michael van Duijn, VP Business Strategy at ORTEC. “And innovation reaps rewards. A clear indication of this is that one of ORTEC’s customers (Van Maanen) was nominated as European Transportation Company of the year in 2009.”
A further observation shows that in general, ORTEC’s customers are in a better position to deal with the challenges of the current economic climate. The Logistics Management Association (VLM), which awarded ORTEC the Netherlands Logistics Award, also noted this fact: “ORTEC is innovative and customer focused,” according to Walther van Amstel, chairman of the Netherlands Logistics Award panel. “ORTEC not only integrates its solutions on a strategic, tactical, operational and real-time level, but it also offers a platform for both small and large companies through its close cooperation with partners such as TOMTOM WORK (winner of the Netherlands Logistics Award 2007). Furthermore, ORTEC puts a great deal of focus on the end customer: when mileage is reduced and savings are made on administrative tasks, ORTEC’s customers can focus more attention on their own customers. Ronald Buijsse, Marketing Director at ORTEC adds: “In essence, the Dutch Logistics Award is also an award for our customers, as its through our cooperation with them that innovative planning solutions for the logistics industry have been put firmly on the map.”
The first quarter of 2010 is also looking promising for ORTEC. “We notice, especially now, that numerous companies are simultaneously restructuring and optimizing their logistics processes and the allocation of manpower,” according to Michael van Duijn. “The reorganization not only prepares companies for future growth but it also assists with other possible scenarios. Our customers – whether they are logistics companies, care institutions or service organizations – are profitable on many fronts because of the use of ORTEC solutions. Whether it relates to customer and employee satisfaction, flexibility or transparency, planning systems have been providing much more value than just meeting supply and demand.”
