ORTEC acquires BlueKaizen to strengthen position in France
01 February 2010
ORTEC, the leader in advanced planning and optimization solutions, announced today that it has completed the acquisition of BlueKaizen. BlueKaizen, part of the French MASA Group, focuses on optimization software for waste management and the field services industry.
By adding BlueKaizen, ORTEC will expand its market penetration and become the largest player in the French market for sophisticated planning & optimization software. “We are happy to strengthen our position in the French market by adding a group of experienced people, customers and optimization technology for waste management” says Michael van Duijn, Vice President Business Strategy of ORTEC. “Waste-management is a growing market: we estimate the European waste market to be around 100 billion Euros.”
“This transaction also allows us to accelerate our position in the field services industry in France. Both ORTEC and BlueKaizen have a proven track record in delivering workforce optimization solutions to companies with field service employees”, says Michael van Duijn “Most service companies nowadays still use manual planning methods (and paper) to create efficient work schedules and routes for their people in the field. ORTEC can support these organizations by optimizing their planning and dispatch processes, which increases customer service and improves profitability.”
Existing BlueKaizen customers, such as La Poste, Saur, RFF, Veolia, and Coved will benefit from ORTEC’s commitment to customer service, investments in Research and Development (R&D) as well as a wide variety of ORTEC software solutions and professional services. Olivier Trullier, Vice-President of BlueKaizen explains the advantages: “By becoming part of a stable and larger group, we will benefit from ORTEC’s global presence for our waste solution, as well as from ORTEC’s knowledge and experience. We will be able to interact with ORTEC’s Operations Research, Consulting, R&D and Software Development teams. We have the same DNA. BlueKaizen’s solutions and activities are similar to ORTEC, yet also complementary. We both are experts in optimization technology and offer standard packaged and tailor made software solutions.”
“I’m very happy we enlarge and strengthen the french team. I am also looking forward working together with the BlueKaizen people. In fact, we already started.” says Bernard van Oudenaarden, Vice-President ORTEC France. “We are already looking for a larger office in Paris to integrate the two teams as soon as possible.”
BlueKaizen is not the first company in France to be acquired by ORTEC. In 2007, ORTEC acquired Inovia, a company specialized in resource optimization software based on constraint programming technology. “As you can see, we continue to review business opportunities to strengthen our position in France”, states Michael van Duijn of ORTEC.
