ORTEC optimizes distribution and planning for LOOMIS’ cash-in-transit security guards
June 16, 2009
LOOMIS, the cash-handling services division of SECURITAS, the global market leader in security services, has implemented two of ORTEC's decision-making tools in order to optimize its distribution and planning operations for its cash-in-transit security guards. The decision to implement these tools is in line with LOOMIS' objective to invest in technological innovations while at the same time providing increasingly effective services to its customers and improving profitability.
LOOMIS' armored transport allows the company to dispatch valuable products and items securely. The secure service, with a fleet of 400 armored, unmarked vehicles and more than 1,250 specially trained security agents, operates throughout France from 70 regional facilities. LOOMIS France has decided to implement ORTEC's distribution optimization solution in order to meet four strategic and operational needs:
Increasing effectiveness and profitability
ORTEC's planning and scheduling software solution offers optimized distributions that can be adapted to each situation while at the same time respecting the customer’s business hours. "This distribution scheduling tool allows us to optimize the number of miles driven, is adapted to the specific needs of our line of business, takes into account the strict requirements of our clients, and helps us achieve our objective of improving profitability," LOOMIS France CEO Christian Lerognon said, adding that "the extremely short period needed to adapt our distribution operations enabled us to implement the tool in no time at all."
Improving its organization
"When we acquired the cash-handling division of G4S France, we needed to reorganize our distribution operations and to determine how we would divide the customers among the various offices," Christian Lerognon explained. "The tool’s simulation feature enables us to analyze the current distributions at our offices and to more effectively organize the vehicle fleets assigned to each office."
Facilitating the sales process
The tool allows LOOMIS to improve its sales operations and services (for example, responding to tenders and assisting new customers) by performing simulations and assessing the number of vehicles required.
Conveying an image of innovation
Christian Lerognon: "At LOOMIS, we are committed to technological innovation and to providing quality services to our customers. That’s why we have been investing heavily in that area by integrating the very latest technologies into our products and services, and ORTEC’s optimization software is perfectly in line with that commitment."
"Once our distributions have been optimized, ORTEC's planning and scheduling solution helps planners prepare the schedules of 1,250 agents: security guards, drivers and messengers. Our objective is to implement the right resources for each delivery depending on the competencies available and to distribute the workload evenly among our agents. At the same time, the tool is able to meet the large number of extremely stringent requirements of our business while still respecting the preferences of our security agents as much as possible."
