ORTEC TSS analyzes all European Championship matches
June 02, 2008
While the friendly internationals, ahead of the European Championship 2008, are just finished, ORTEC Team Support Systems is busy calculating the most ideal formations and positioning of all the participating teams and players. “It’s extremely busy now that we are on the eve of the European Championships,” says Director Gert Jan Wormmeester. “Many sports reporters are calling with questions regarding individual players or the analysis of the participating teams.”
During the European Championships a large number of organizations, especially media companies, will utilize the analyses of ORTEC Team Support Systems. In addition, ORTEC Team Support Systems will also appear regularly on television and radio. For example, ORTEC TSS will be featured on the dutch television program Zembla this Friday, June 6, at 9.30 p.m. in a report on the use of modern analytical techniques in contemporary soccer. During this report, ORTEC TSS and the University of Groningen will explain our activities.” Foppe de Haan, Joop Albeda and Arrigo Sacchi (former trainer of AC Milan) will share their views on these types of systems. According to Zembla this will be a high-profile broadcast.
Analysis of every match
ORTEC TSS, the company known for its advanced sports analysis systems, will analyze every European Championship match. The effectiveness of players will be measured, and as of June 4 all information will be available to a broad public on the website www.de5eman.nl. Gert Jan Wormmeester: “We’ll be there right from the first whistle and kick-off in the match between Switzerland and the Czech Republic. We had our own kick-off a while ago. We also kept a close track of the warm-up matches. The actions of players were analyzed in detail and the results from the analyses are also available on the website.”

Pick the best team yourself!
In addition to the match analyses, ORTEC TSS will also be holding a European Championship Pool. “This won’t be just any European Championship Pool in which people try to predict the scores beforehand. We will enable soccer fans to pick the best team themselves from the 16 participating countries – a total of 368 players – based on facts (see our analyses), not emotion. The best defense, striker, goal keeper, etc. The rules are simple: analyses will be made of all matches and players by means of our Effectivity in Action software. After every match the participants will be given points for the performance of their selected players. These points will be added up to eventually make the total score of the virtual teams. The best Virtual Team Coach will win a European soccer trip to see their favorite team. So it’s well worth taking part!” Would you like to participate? Visit www.ek-opstelling.nl and enter for free. Entry closes at 11.59 a.m. on June 7.
