The order splitting function enables the planner to split orders based on amounts. This is a relevant function when maximized vehicle utilization is key.
Useful when:
- Capacity of a resource is exceeded based on full amount
- Partial delivery is beneficial or required
- Products of one order cannot be transported together
- Required because of customer pickup site capacities or dock availability
- Required as a result of exceptions in reality such as planned vs. actual deviations for pickups
Splitting can be done:
- Up front (as a planner strategy)
- During execution (as a response to disturbances)
- Triggered by mobile device
- Merging split orders will also be possible
