Order Splitting

The order splitting function enables the planner to split orders based on amounts. This is a relevant function when maximized vehicle utilization is key.

Useful when:

  • Capacity of a resource is exceeded based on full amount
  • Partial delivery is beneficial or required
  • Products of one order cannot be transported together
  • Required because of customer pickup site capacities or dock availability
  • Required as a result of exceptions in reality such as planned vs. actual deviations for pickups

Splitting can be done:

  • Up front (as a planner strategy)
  • During execution (as a response to disturbances)
  • Triggered by mobile device
  • Merging split orders will also be possible
