TNT Express
TNT Express and ORTEC have joined forces to optimizeTNT Express’ global infrastructure and networks through to ORTEC ’s state-of-the-art optimization knowledge and solutions, which are part of the Global Optimization (GO) Program. In addition, GO aims at further standardization of TNT’s infrastructure on a global scale, as well as enhancing the operational transformation and integration of TNT ’s divisions in Spain, Brazil, India and China.
ORTEC ’s solutions also include carbon footprint calculations to improve sustainability and to reduce CO 2 emissions, which is an essential component of TNT ’s Planet Me Program.

Franz Edelman Award
The collaborative, supply chain-wide optimization efforts of TNT Express, ORTEC and Tilburg University have been officially recognized by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS®). TNT Express has been shortlisted as a finalist at the 2012 Franz Edelman Award for its successful application of Operations Research in supply chain optimization. The use of Operations Research (applied mathematics for decision making) to analyze and enhance its transportation networks has allowed TNT Express to save costs, improve service to customers and develop managers’ skills on a global scale.
Moving the World
ORTEC applies its logistics knowledge worldwide for humanitarian aid, together with TNT, as supporter of the Moving the World initiative. Moving the World takes a three-pronged approach, offering direct logistical support to assist the World Food Program (WFP) in emergency operations, organizational expertise to enhance the emergency response business process, and practical training at TNT Airway's Liège air hub to help bring WFP's air operations up to FAA standards.
