Case Tour Operator One of ORTEC’s customers is a Dutch Tour Operator. ORTEC helps the customer to maximise the revenues of the tour operator. This is accomplished by developing an advanced Revenue Management system. 

The revenue management system is seamlessly integrated with their current ICT structure.

  • This system will provide the tour operator with insights in:
  • Current performance
  • How many trips are sold, how many empty seats are there, etcetera?
  • Demand forecast for the future
  • How much customers to expect for the future?
  • Pricing decisions
  • When should trips be discounted in order to boost sales?
  • Purchasing decisions for hotel rooms and flight places
  • Should the tour operator buy extra flight places?
ORTEC has integrated several complex techniques in order to create this decision support tool:
  • Advanced statistical techniques for the demand forecasting
  • Advanced Operations Research techniques for the pricing and purchasing decisions
  • Advanced data warehouse techniques for collecting data necessary for the items above and for calculating the performance indicators.
The final goal is an advanced Revenue Management system that is seamlessly integrated with the current ICT structure and provides the automation for the strategic and tactic decisions. An important part of this project is an advanced Demand Forecast model that makes well-specified predictions for the number of customers in the future. Next to this, the model will become a tool by which purchasing decisions (hotel rooms and flight places) can be made. Additionally, ORTEC provides the customer with a system determining the best long-term tours’ pricing strategies using enhanced Operations Research techniques.
